Breads, cookies, cakes, waffles are the most demanded products for breakfast or snack time, at a European level.
Europe is the largest global region in terms of bakery and sweet baked goods launches, with 42% and 41% shares, for the period from April 2020 to March 2021. The United Kingdom leads the ranking of launches, followed by Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands.
Regarding the favourite flavours, chocolate is still the favourite. The indulgent nature of the ingredient illustrates its popularity. Three of the top five favourite flavours are milk chocolate in first place with 20%, dark chocolate with 8% and cocoa with 7%, respectively. In fourth and fifth place are hazelnut and vanilla, both flavours with the same percentages, slightly lower, 5%.
Apart from the 5 top flavours, almond, chocolate chip, white chocolate, lemon, coconut, red raspberry, orange, caramel and strawberry are other flavours that are growing in the European market, winning popularity during April 2020 to March 2021.
