Due to the pandemic, the yoghurt sector has undergone a commercial and consumer change. The consumer has preferred to return to consuming basic and indulgent products to be able to enjoy those little whims in difficult times.
According to data from the dairy sector, yoghurt has been one of the favorite foods at the level of consumption with record daily consumption figures of 95% of Spaniards, who take this dairy dessert at least once a day during the two months of lockdown, along with milk and fruit.
In this period of confinement from March to May, there was an increase of 18% in the home consumption of yoghurts and of 14.5% in that of dairy desserts, according to the study by Aecoc Shopperview in collaboration with 40dB.
“Yoghurt has always had an important place in our diet and, at this time, the benefits provided by this accessible and affordable food are becoming even more relevant,” says Antoni Bandrés, president of the Spanish Association of Manufacturers of Yoghurt and Dairy Desserts ( AEFY).
